REEFSCAPE

Presented by Haas

Dive In

In REEFSCAPE, two alliances of three teams each compete to restore their "Reef," manage "Algae" populations, and secure their robots on the "Barge."

The game emphasizes precision scoring, vertical integration, and cooperative gameplay mechanics to conserve the coral reef ecosystem.

The Game Pieces

Coral

White, 12-inch PVC torus shapes representing coral branches. These are the primary scoring objects placed onto the Reef to restore the ecosystem.

Algae

Green, 16-inch rubber balls representing invasive algae. Robots must remove these from the Reef to clear scoring branches and can score them into the Net or Processor.

The Reef

The central hub of the alliance's scoring area is the hexagonal Reef. Robots must place Coral onto branches located at various heights and angles. Higher levels yield more points.

Ranking Point: Filling specific rows across these levels earns the Coral Ranking Point.

Endgame: The Barge

In the final 20 seconds, alliances race to the Barge to hang their robots.

  • Shallow Cage: Higher up, easier reach, fewer points.
  • Deep Cage: Hangs lower, harder climb, max points (12 pts).

Scoring Hierarchy

Level 4 (L4)

Highest Difficulty
Vertical branches approx. 6ft (1.8m) high.

Level 3 (L3)

Medium Difficulty
Mid-height branches angled upward.

Level 2 (L2)

Medium Difficulty
Low branches angled upward (approx. 35°).

Level 1 (L1)

Trough
The base of the Reef. Easiest to score, lowest point value.
